The Dream Looking To Finish Season Strong

The end of the season is fast approaching for the Atlanta Dream and that means one thing –  the playoff picture is soon to be set and the Dream are aiming to be in it.

With a little under two weeks remaining, the Dream have four games left to play, two at home and two on the road. Atlanta currently sits at number six in the standings. The Las Vegas Aces, New York Liberty, and Connecticut Sun have all secured spots in the playoffs, currently the top three of the league. The Phoenix Mercury and Seattle Storm have been eliminated from playoff contention.

The 4-10 spots are still to be determined, with the difference of games ranging anywhere from tied (Atlanta and Minnesota) to up to eight games (Dallas and Indiana). With the race being so tight, it is not an exaggeration to say that every remaining game is important.

“Well, we’re focusing one game at a time, I can tell you that for sure, at least from a coaching standpoint,” the Dream head coach Tanisha Wright said following their win over the Phoenix Mercury. “Because every game right now matters for us. And we’re not in the playoffs right now, right. We have to put together another solid game here when we head to Minnesota on Thursday; who’s playing as well and fighting for their lives in positioning, too”.

“I think you have to pay attention to it. You know, I think, yeah we can control our own destiny but at the same time, like, you look at matchups, those kinds of things. You look at homecourt advantage,” the Dream’s Danielle Robinson pointed out that, as a player, she keeps her eyes on what’s happening around the league. “So yeah, it’s definitely something you think about, but at the end of the day, it’s focusing on ourselves first.”

The Dream head to Minnesota to face the Lynx at 8pm ET, Friday, September 1.
