Atlanta Dream Finalize 2019 Season-Opening Roster

Dream waive guard Blake Dietrick to finalize 12-player roster

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Dream have finalized its 12-player roster ahead of Friday night’s home opener after waiving guard Blake Dietrick, the team announced Thursday.

Earning a roster spot prior to the 2018 season, Dietrick signed a training camp contract earlier this offseason. She saw time in 26 games as a reserve for the Dream last season, providing much needed depth for an injury-depleted roster midway through the year. Her best performance came against the Chicago Sky on June 27 when she finished with a career-best 12 points in 23 minutes of action. She played in all three preseason games, averaging 4.6 points in 13.3 minutes a game.

Head Coach Nicki Collen will go in to 2019 with eight players returning from the record-setting 2018 squad, led by All-WNBA First Team member Tiffany Hayes and the franchise’s single-season three-point record holder Renee Montgomery. Angel McCoughtry, the longest tenured player on the Dream roster, will start the season on the bench due to a knee injury suffered late last season.

Newcomers Marie Gülich, Nia Coffey and Haley Peters will join rookie guard Maite Cazorla on the opening day roster. For the second straight season, the Dream will have its second round draft pick on the roster.

Atlanta opens the 2019 season at State Farm Arena Friday, May 24 against the Dallas Wings beginning at 7:30 p.m. Season, group and single game tickets are available now. For more information, visit atlantadream.net or call 877.977.7729.

The Atlanta Dream, who is celebrating its 12th season in the WNBA in 2019, will play its home games in State Farm Arena in downtown Atlanta. The Dream has qualified for the playoffs nine times, winning conference titles in 2013, 2011 and 2010.
