Atlanta Dream Announce “I Have A Dream” Essay Contest Winners

Winners selected from High School, Middle School and Elementary School

ATLANTA – The Atlanta Dream are excited to announce the winners of our 2018 “I Have A Dream” essay contest.

The contest, which ran through January, was organized for Atlanta-area students to recognize the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. All participants submitted an essay expressing their dream job or dream college.

“Once again, we received many inspiring essays from students around the Atlanta-area,” Dream President Theresa Wenzel said. “It was a tough process selecting just six winners from all the wonderful submissions.”

2018 “I Have A Dream” Essay Contest Winners:

High School

Kaiya McQueen – 11th grade, Martin Luther King Jr High school

Isaac Robinson – 11th grade, Martin Luther King Jr High school

Middle School

Chase Yelverton – 6th grade, Drew Charter

Sara Rogers – 6th grade, Harlem Middle

Elementary

Asante Hodge – 3rd grade, Drew Charter

Ella Sipe – 5th grade, E. Rivers

Each winner will receive tickets to the first 2018 Dream game, be recognized in game and will receive a school visit from the franchise. The High School winner, one boy and one girl, will also receive a $250 scholarship from the Atlanta Dream Youth Foundation.

The Atlanta Dream, who is celebrating its 11th season in the WNBA in 2018, will play its home games in McCamish Pavilion on the Georgia Tech campus. Atlanta has qualified for the playoffs seven times, winning conference titles in 2013, 2011 and 2010.
