5/23 Game Preview: Atlanta Dream vs. Chicago Sky
The Dream will face the Sky Wednesday at 12 p.m.
Location: Chicago, Ill. (Wintrust Arena)
Time: 12:00 p.m. ET
Where To Watch: WNBA League Pass
After falling to the Dallas Wings, 101-78 on Sunday, the Dream are looking to turn things around on the road as they take on the Chicago Sky (2-0) Wednesday at 12 p.m. ET.
Dream and Sky Playing History
The Dream’s most recent match up with the Sky came just a few weeks ago in a 78-61 preseason game win for Atlanta. Going back to the 2017 season, the Dream and Sky played four times, resulting in a 1-3 record for the Dream. With leadership from a vocal and experienced Renee Montgomery, the return of Angel McCoughtry and addition of Jessica Breland (former Sky forward), the team is looking for a different outcome than last season’s meetings.
Tiffany Hayes, Layshia Clarendon, Brittney Sykes, and Elizabeth Williams all scored 10 or more points against the Sky in at least one of last year’s match ups. Forward Stephanie Dolson is one to watch out for on the Sky as she averaged 17 points in three of the team’s games last year.
Season Opener
On Saturday, McCoughtry scored her 5,000th career point and had 13 points after sitting out the 2017 WNBA season. Tiffany Hayes, the Dream’s leading returning scorer, opened the season with 14 points while Renee Montgomery also finished with 14 points in her Dream debut. Jessica Breland contributed 11 points and six rebounds in her first game with the Dream. Brittney Sykes came off the bench and contributed 14 points and seven rebounds.
Second-round WNBA Draft pick Monique Billings played ten minutes in her debut and grabbed two rebounds. Maggie Lucas knocked down her first three in two seasons after returning from back to back knee injuries.
