The top four teams from both Group A and B will advance to the elimination games in the medal round following the completion of group play.  The U.S. will face some stiff competition during the group phase as they are bundled together with European Champion Serbia and the Americas reigning Champion, Canada.

The U.S. Nationals posted a perfect 4-0 mark during its exhibition tour in its homeland before traveling to Rio following a final practice in Houston on Tuesday (August 2).  The U.S. National Team defeated the USA Select Team in Los Angeles by a score of 88-84 on July 25 to open the stretch of tune-up contests.

McCoughtry came off the bench to record nine points, three rebounds, two steals and a pair of assists over 15:41 of playing time.  In addition, the 11-member U.S. Select Team was comprised of young USA National Team members and future USA National Team hopefuls, including current Atlanta Dream center Elizabeth Williams.

The United States continued its solid play with wins over future and potential Olympic foes France (86-62/July 27), Canada (83-43/July 29) and Australia (104-98/July 31).

McCoughtry, who is expected to come off the bench as one of the team’s primary scoring threats and defensive specialists, posted averages of 9.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals over 16.5 minutes of game action over the four exhibition tune ups.
