Assistant Coach 

Paul Goriss joined the Atlanta Dream in 2021 as an assistant coach after spending six seasons as head coach of the UC Capitals of the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) in Australia. 

A native Australian, Goriss led the Capitals to back-to-back WNBL Championships in 2019 and 2020, earning WNBL Coach of the Year honors during the 2020 season. His first WNBL coaching experience was with the South East Queensland Stars, where he served as an assistant before being promoted to head coach for the last five games of the 2015-16 season. 

Goriss was an assistant coach of the Australian Women’s National Basketball Team from 2017-22, leading the Opals to a silver medal finish at the 2018 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. Prior to this role, he served as the head coach of the Australian U19 Women’s Team in 2015, leading the Gems to a bronze medal in the FIBA Under-19 World Championship. 

Goriss’ other experience in coaching includes roles as an associate women’s coach for Basketball Australia’s Centre of Excellence at the Australian Institute of Sport from 2013-2016 and as an assistant coach for the Australian U19 Men’s teams that competed at the 2011 and 2013 FIBA World Championships.
