Dream Return Home Sunday For “Dream Pink” Game vs. Phoenix
ATLANTA (July 31, 2015) – The Atlanta Dream will take on the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday, August 2 at Philips Arena in the annual “Dream Pink” game presented by Grady Health System. Tip time is slated for 3 p.m.
A number of events will be centered on the effort to bring awareness to the fight to find a cure for Breast Cancer, highlighted by a postgame auction with items for bid that include but are not limited to special experiences with WNBA players, coaches and staff as well as game-worn jerseys.
All auction proceeds will benefit the Grady Memorial Hospital’s Avon Breast Health Center.
All fans are encouraged to wear pink at Sunday’s game to show their support to find a cure for breast cancer.
The first 2,000 fans will receive a free “Dream Pink” T-Shirt.
Fans are also reminded to support the online auction that is updated daily with new items that include sports memorabilia as well as items from Atlanta-area hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues. All the proceeds will go directly to benefit the Grady Memorial Hospital Avon Breast Health Center.
Just prior to the start of Sunday’s Atlanta – Phoenix clash, Dream star Angel McCoughtry will be honored for becoming the second-fastest player in WNBA history to eclipse the 4,000-point milestone, taking just 206 games – only Diana Taurasi hit 4,000 quicker (197 games). McCoughtry, who is the 25th player in league annals to register 4,000 points will be presented the ball from the July 21 game at Chicago in which she hit the mark.
The Dream will be playing their lone home game on Sunday vs. Phoenix in a tough current stretch that will see them play eight of nine games away from home when it’s complete. Following Sunday’s showdown with the Mercury, Atlanta’s next home appearance will take place on Friday, August 14 vs. the Minnesota Lynx.
The Phoenix Mercury are the defending WNBA champions and feature a trio of 2015 All-Star selections in Brittney Griner, DeWanna Bonner and Candice Dupree. Phoenix current resides in second place in the Western Conference standings with a record of 10-7.

The three-time Eastern Conference Champion Atlanta Dream is in its eighth season in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA).
The Dream plays their home games at Philips Arena. Atlanta has qualified for the playoffs in each of the past six seasons, winning conference titles in 2013, 2011 and 2010.
