A balanced attack carried the Atlanta Dream to its fourth consecutive win and put it in position to secure homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs as it defeated the New York Liberty 95-84 on Monday at Barclays Center.

The Dream can clinch home-court advantage with a win at New York Wednesday in its finale because it trails third-place Las Vegas by one-half game and leads fifth-place Indiana by 1 ½ games. The Aces and the Fever each have two games remaining.

“Big win for us,” Dream Head Coach Karl Smesko said. “I think the biggest thing is that we had everybody contribute and play well, and to be able to win a road game in a playoff-type atmosphere, that's as close to a playoff type game without being in the playoffs. So, the intensity was there.”

Five Dream players scored at least 10 points with two more milestones hit:

Rhyne Howard, who scored 16 points, became the youngest player in WNBA history to hit 500 3-pointers when she knocked down her second of the game in the fourth quarter. Howard, 26 years old, did it in her 178th game, the fewest in league history.

Jordin Canada, who finished with a team-high 19 points, became the fourth player in league history to reach 300 assists in one season. The milestone came on the Dream’s first basket, a layup by Reese, who finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds for her 31st double-double this season.

DeWanna Bonner scored 17 in her best game since arriving a few games ago, and Allisha Gray had 14.

“When you're playing New York, you're going to need a lot of people to contribute,” Smesko said. “I think everybody had their moments. I thought DB (Bonner) was really big for us. She added that extra scoring punch, and not only that she made some defensive plays.”

After a tight first half, the Dream got hot in the third quarter, scoring 32 points on 60% shooting to take a 73-62 lead into the fourth quarter. New York didn’t get within eight points in the fourth quarter.

“We wanted to wear them down as much as we could,” Angel Reese said.

The Dream are back at Barclays Center to face the Libery Wednesday for its last regular season game.
