Atlanta Dream Waives Four to Finalize Roster

Dream releases Milton-Jones, Hodges, Walker and Jones

ATLANTA (May 12, 2016) –
The Atlanta Dream released four players on Wednesday night as it finalized its roster for the 2016 WNBA regular season, which begins for the Dream on Saturday night in San Antonio (May 14) against the Stars in an 8 p.m. ET tip.

Atlanta released veterans DeLisha Milton-Jones and Roneeka Hodges as well as rookies Courtney Walker and Jordan Jones.  Milton-Jones was the WNBA’s oldest player and became the league’s all-time leader in game played during the 2015 season.  She currently has seen action in 499 career games.

Hodges has played 11 WNBA seasons, including 2015 in Atlanta where she logged 6.4 points over 23 games of action.

Walker was the No. 16 overall selection (second round) by Atlanta in the 2016 WNBA Draft following her collegiate career at Texas A&M.  Jones was recently signed by the Dream after being released by the Chicago Sky, who selected her with the No. 34 overall choice in the 2016 draft.

In addition, the Dream announced that Damiris Dantas will be suspended for the entire 2016 season as she trains and competes with the Brazilian National Team in preparation for the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Atlanta will retain Dantas’ rights and expects her to return to the active roster for the 2017 WNBA campaign.  She was acquired by the Dream in 2015 in a midseason trade with the Minnesota Lynx.  Dantas started 16 games for Atlanta last year and averaged 8.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest.

Transaction:  The Atlanta Dream released DeLisha Milton-Jones, Roneeka Hodges, Courtney Walker and Jordan Jones.  Suspended Damiris Dantas for the 2016 WNBA season.
