Reese earns fourth career weekly honor after another record-breaking week for Atlanta 

ATLANTA (September 1, 2026) — Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese has been named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, the league announced today. The honor marks Reese’s second with Atlanta and fourth of her three-year WNBA career. 

Reese led the Dream to a 2-1 record during the week, averaging 14.4 points, 17.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game. 

The week was highlighted by another historic stretch for Reese. Against Los Angeles, she pulled down a WNBA-record 26 rebounds and surpassed A’ja Wilson’s single-season rebounds record of 451, setting both league records in the same night as Atlanta completed the first 4-0 road trip in franchise history. 

Reese capped the week by helping Atlanta defeat the WNBA-leading Minnesota Lynx while recording her 29th double-double of the season to set a new WNBA single-season record. The milestone added to a historic first season in Atlanta in which Reese has established WNBA records for rebounds in a game, rebounds in a season, offensive rebounds in a season and double-doubles in a season. 

Reese becomes the fourth Dream player in franchise history to earn Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors in consecutive weeks. She is the second Dream player to receive the honor this season, joining USA Basketball World Cup teammate Rhyne Howard. Reese has now earned four Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors in her WNBA career, including two in her first season with Atlanta. 

Reese will now represent the United States at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin alongside Howard. The Dream will resume WNBA action on Sept. 17 when Atlanta hosts the Connecticut Sun at Gateway Center Arena.
