ANGEL REESE AND RHYNE HOWARD NAMED TO 2026 ALL-WNBA SECOND TEAM

Reese and Howard Become First Dream Teammates in Franchise History to Earn All-WNBA Honors in the Same Season; Seventh Pair in WNBA History to Earn All-WNBA and All-Defensive Honors in the Same Year

ATLANTA (Oct. 24, 2026) – Atlanta Dream stars Angel Reese and Rhyne Howard have been named to the 2026 All-WNBA Second Team, the league announced today, becoming the first teammates in franchise history to earn All-WNBA honors in the same season. The recognition comes as the duo has helped propel Atlanta to a 2-1 lead over the Golden State Valkyries in the WNBA Finals.

The selections cap historic regular-season campaigns for Reese and Howard, who also earned 2026 WNBA All-Defensive First Team honors. The duo becomes just the seventh pair of teammates in WNBA history, and the first in Dream franchise history, to earn both All-WNBA and All-Defensive recognition in the same season. Their two-way excellence helped lead Atlanta to its fourth consecutive postseason appearance, anchoring a Dream team that ranked among the league's top three in defensive rating (103.5) and led the WNBA in points off turnovers (18.1 per game).

Reese, the 2026 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year and the first player in franchise history to earn the honor, delivered a record-breaking debut season in Atlanta. The three-time WNBA All-Star became the first player in league history to record 500 rebounds in a single season, establishing new WNBA single-season records for total rebounds, offensive rebounds and double-doubles. Reese finished with 32 double-doubles, surpassing the previous league record of 28, while also setting new Dream franchise records for total, offensive and defensive rebounds.

Reese's dominance extended to the defensive end, where she led the WNBA in Defensive Win Shares (3.4) and posted a 100.0 defensive rating. Atlanta allowed 7.9 fewer points per 100 possessions with Reese on the floor, the largest defensive on/off differential among Dream rotation players. Offensively, she recorded a career-high 31 points against Phoenix on Aug. 22 and became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 1,000 career rebounds, accomplishing the milestone in just 79 games. Reese also helped the United States capture gold at the 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup.

Howard, a four-time WNBA All-Star, further cemented her status as one of the league's premier two-way players with a historic offensive and defensive campaign. The former No. 1 overall pick established a new WNBA single-season record with 129 made three-pointers in 40 regular-season games and became the youngest player in league history to reach 500 career three-pointers, accomplishing the milestone in just 178 games, the fewest in WNBA history.

Howard also surpassed 3,000 career points and became the fastest player in WNBA history to record 3,000 points, 600 assists and 300 steals. She led the league in steals per game (2.3), ranked third in Defensive Win Shares (3.2) and established a new Dream single-season steals record. Howard's performance earned her a second consecutive WNBA All-Defensive Team selection and her first First Team recognition.

Reese and Howard become the fourth and fifth players in franchise history to earn All-WNBA honors, joining Angel McCoughtry (2010, 2011, 2013–16), Tiffany Hayes (2018) and Allisha Gray (2025).
