Three Dream Players Named to 2011 WNBA All-Defensive Team

THREE ATLANTA DREAM PLAYERS NAMED TO 2011 WNBA ALL-DEFENSIVE TEAM

- McCoughtry named to First Team; Lyttle, Price on Second Team -

ATLANTA, September 29, 2011  Atlanta Dream forward Angel McCoughtry was named to the 2011 WNBA All-Defensive First Team, the league announced today. Forward Sancho Lyttle and guard Armintie Price earned All-Defensive Second Team honors.

McCoughtry, a 6-1 forward, is a First-Team selection for a second straight season. She ranked third in the league in steals (2.2 spg). The third year pro was a Second-Team selection as a rookie in 2009 and a First-Team member in 2010.

Lyttle, a 6-4 forward, earns her second consecutive All-Defensive Second Team selection. She led the WNBA in steals this season, averaging a career-high 2.4 spg. She was second on the Dream in rebounding, averaging 6.3 rpg.

Price, a 5-9 guard, earns her first ever All-Defensive team honor as a member of the Second Team. Price averaged a career-high 1.5 spg in 2011.

Joining McCoughtry on the 2011 WNBA All-Defensive First Team are Indiana Fever forward Tamika Catchings, Minnesota Lynx forward Rebekkah Brunson, Chicago Sky center Sylvia Fowles and Seattle Storm guard Tanisha Wright.

Other 2011 WNBA All-Defensive Second Team selections include: Seattle Storm forward Swin Cash, Connecticut Sun center Tina Charles and Indiana Fever guard Katie Douglas.

A panel of the WNBAs 12 head coaches voted on the WNBA All-Defensive Team, selecting First and Second Teams by position. Coaches were not permitted to vote for players from their own team. Players earned five points for each First Team vote and three points for a Second Team vote.

The Atlanta Dream is in its fourth season this summer at Philips Arena as part of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), the world's longest-running women's professional sports league. The Dream, the 2011 Eastern Conference Champions, will take on the Minnesota Lynx in the 2011 WNBA Finals, tipping off on October 5.
