Angel McCoughtry Named to All-WNBA Second Team

ATLANTA, Sept. 11, 2014  Atlanta Dream guard/forward Angel McCoughtry has been named to the 2014 All-WNBA Second Team, the WNBA announced today.

Voting for the All-WNBA First and Second Teams was conducted by a panel of 38 national and local sportswriters and broadcasters at the conclusion of the regular season. Players were selected by position and received five points for each First Team vote and three points for each Second Team designation.

McCoughtry led the WNBA in steals this season (2.39 per game) and ranked fourth in the league in scoring (18.5), 16th in assists (3.5) and 20th in rebounds (5.2). She scored in double figures in 29 of her 31 games, including 14 games with at least 20 points.

McCoughtry was named to the WNBAs All-Defensive First Team this season, and finished third in the Most Valuable Player voting. She was twice named Eastern Conference Player of the Week, and was the Eastern Conferences Player of the Month for June. She was also elected to start at the All-Star Game for the third time in her career.

McCoughtry, who is currently training with USA Basketball in preparation for the FIBA World Championship which will take place from Sept. 27 to Oct. 5 in Turkey, received the third All-WNBA honor of her career. She was named to the First Team in 2011 and the Second Team in 2013.

The All-WNBA First Team consisted of guards Diana Taurasi of Phoenix and Skylar Diggins of Tulsa, forwards Maya Moore of Minnesota and Candace Parker of Los Angeles and Phoenix center Brittney Griner.

Joining McCoughtry on the Second Team were guards Seimone Augustus of Minnesota and Danielle Robinson of San Antonio, forward Nneka Ogwumike of Los Angeles and center Tina Charles of New York.

In honor of being named to the All-WNBA First and Second Teams, each player will receive a Tiffany & Co. designed trophy. In addition, $10,000 will be awarded to each member of the First Team, while each member of the Second Team will receive $5,000.

The three-time Eastern Conference Champion Atlanta Dream recently completed its seventh season in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA).
