Assistant Coach

Barbara Turner joined the Dream as an assistant coach on Tanisha Wright’s staff in 2022 after spending the prior season as a player development assistant and translator with the NBA’s Houston Rockets. As a former player herself, Turner developed and grew her game to play at the highest level, which will help Dream players connect with her on a different level.

Turner played three WNBA seasons, including her rookie season alongside Wright, after the Seattle Storm drafted her 11th overall in the 2006 WNBA Draft. She played the 2007 season with the Houston Comets and the 2008 season with the Connecticut Sun.

In addition to her WNBA playing career, she spent 15 seasons on teams overseas, acquiring dual citizenship while playing in Turkey, most recently playing two seasons with Çankaya Üniversitesi in Ankara.

Turner had a decorated college playing career at Connecticut, where she helped lead the Huskies to back-to-back National Championships in 2003 and 2004. She made the Big East All-Rookie Team in 2003 and followed with two more All-Big East Team honors, as well as being named the Most Outstanding Player at the 2005 Big East Tournament.

She played for the U.S. at the 2003 Pan American Games and won a silver medal.
