Dream to Host Draft Party Thursday at Atlanta Marriott Marquis

ATLANTA (April 11, 2016) – The Atlanta Dream will host its 2016 WNBA Draft Party on Thursday, April 14 at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. ET, with the event getting underway at 7 p.m. ET with live coverage of the 2016 WNBA Draft. The Atlanta Dream Draft Party is presented by Atlanta Marriott Marquis as well as supporting partner Nissan South Morrow. Members of the media are encouraged to attend.
“We are excited about taking part in this year’s WNBA Draft and look forward to adding some important pieces to our already talented roster,” Atlanta Dream head coach Michael Cooper said. “There are many talented players coming out of the college ranks this season and we look forward to making our selections.”
Highlights of the Draft Party will include the opportunity for fans to interact with members of the Atlanta Dream coaching staff as well as a current member of the Dream roster. A live video introduction with each of the Dream’s top two draft picks is also scheduled for the event. In addition, fans will have the chance to participate in contests for the chance to win prizes, including tickets to the Dream’s regular season home opener on Sunday, May 22 vs. the Chicago Sky and reigning WNBA most valuable player Elena Delle Donne.
Complimentary appetizers and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Two cash bars will also be available for all Draft Party guests. Merchandise tables will also be available for fans to purchase the latest in Atlanta Dream merchandise.
Self-parking is available at the 211 Peachtree Center Avenue Garage at a rate of $5 per car after 4 p.m. The Atlanta Marriott Marquis also offers limited valet parking. Rates range from $12 for up to one hour, $15 for one to three hours and $20 for three to six hours.
The Dream holds three of the top 16 overall selections in the 2016 WNBA Draft. Atlanta will select at No. 11 (acquired from Minnesota), No. 13 (acquired from San Antonio) and No. 16. The Dream also hold the No. 28 overall pick (third round).
Atlanta previously traded the rights to the No. 4 selection in the 2016 WNBA Draft to the Connecticut Sun in exchange for forward/center Elizabeth Williams, who was the No. 4 overall selection in the 2015 WNBA Draft after a standout career at Duke University.
The 2016 WNBA Draft presented by State Farm will be televised on ESPN’s family of networks. The first round will air live on ESPN2 beginning at 7 p.m. ET before moving to ESPNU for second and third round coverage. The entire draft will also be available on WatchESPN.
The Dream open training camp on Saturday, April 23 before tipping off the preseason with a pair of games at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., vs. San Antonio (May 4) and Chicago (May 5).
Atlanta opens the 2016 regular season on the road on Saturday, May 14 at San Antonio in an 8 p.m. ET tip.

The three-time Eastern Conference Champion Atlanta Dream is entering its ninth season in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA).
The Dream plays their home games at Philips Arena. Atlanta has qualified for the playoffs six times, winning conference titles in 2013, 2011 and 2010.
