Nicki Collen was named the head coach of the Atlanta Dream last week by owners Mary Brock and Kelly Loeffler. She comes to Atlanta with an impressive resume, most recently finishing her second season as an assistant coach with the Connecticut Sun. We asked her some fun questions to get to know her a little better.
What three words would you use to describe yourself? Energetic, Loving, Competitive
What food could you not live without? Peanut Butter
What are you looking forward to most about the city of Atlanta? The People, The Pulse, The Culture
What is your favorite sport besides basketball? Lacrosse, mainly love watching my kids play
What is your favorite pump up song? More of Country music lover, loving everything by Kane Brown and Dylan Scott right now
Do you have any superstitions? Yes, I will stick to same matching undergarments for games when we are winning, clean of course!
What could you not live without? My family, my kids are my world… and coffee (black with a little chocolate milk)
What is a fun fact about you? Favorite show is Project Runway, I love fashion and am blown away by creative, talented people
Who is your mentor? Don’t have one person… My parents, former bosses (Curt Miller, Karl Smesko, Tom Collen), Love Tom Izzo’s approach
If you were not coaching basketball, what career would you pursue? Own a coffee shop because I love to cook/bake, would make healthy food for the shop
