ARLINGTON, TEXAS. – The Atlanta Dream (7-22) held off a late rally from the Wings (9-20) to close out a road trip with their second straight win, defeating Dallas 77-73 Sunday afternoon at College Park Center.
Atlanta shot a season-best 46.4 percent Sunday, helping them lead by as many as 20 points in the game. Jessica Breland posted her second straight double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds, while Tiffany Hayes’ saw her sixth 20-point outing of the season with a team-high 23 points.
A consistent shooting effort helped the Dream gain a lead in the second quarter that Dallas was unable to catch until the fourth. Tiffany Hayes and Alex Bentley were both in double digits by halftime to lead the team’s offense, while Jessica Breland pulled down eight rebounds with a steal and a block in the first half alone.
The Dream jumped out to as much as a 20-point lead in the third quarter, but an early 7-0 run in the fourth started the Wings’ late surge that brought the game within one point with just over three minutes left. Dallas’ Arike Ogunbowale scored her 29th point on a free throw to tie up the game 71-all with two minutes to go, but back-to-back layups from Hayes and Elizabeth Williams, and then a pair of free throws from Hayes, sealed the game for Atlanta.
