We are a little over six weeks from the players reporting to camp for the 2017 season. As of today, the Dream have 14 players signed and ready to compete for roster spots.
With veteran Angel McCoughtry announcing she will be taking time off, Coach Michael Cooper and his staff will look for players to fill the void left by the Gold Medalist.
The team reacquired center Aneika Morello in a trade from Connecticut to help lighten the load on 2016 WNBA Most Improved Player Elizabeth Williams. Coach Cooper and his staff also re-signed guards Layshia Clarendon and Meighan Simmons and backup center Markeisha Gatling this offseason. To add depth, the staff also signed guards Brianna Kiesel, Whitney Knight, Rachel Jarry and Nirra Fields.
Jarry, who last played in the WNBA in 2013 when she won a title with the Minnesota Lynx, has competed with Australia in two Olympic Games.
The Dream home opener is scheduled for Sunday, May 21 against the visiting Chicago Sky. Season and group tickets are available now. For more information, visit atlantadream.net or call 877.977.7729.
The Atlanta Dream, who is celebrating its 10th season in the WNBA in 2017, will play its home games in McCamish Pavilion on the Georgia Tech campus. Atlanta has qualified for the playoffs seven times, winning conference titles in 2013, 2011 and 2010.
