Atlanta Dream Host Sparks; Liberty This Weekend

ATLANTA (June 28) — The Atlanta Dream will host a pair of home games this weekend at McCamish Pavilion. Candace Parker and the reigning WNBA Champion Sparks return to Atlanta Friday, June 30 for a 7:30 p.m. tip, while Tina Charles and the New York Liberty take the court Sunday, July 2 at 6 p.m.

The Dream (5-6) had a week off to prepare for Los Angeles and New York after a tough 82-78 home loss to Chicago last Friday. Center Elizabeth Williams recorded her second double-double of the season behind a 20 point and 10 rebound performance.

The Dream won the last meeting over the Sparks (10-3) in a tight 75-73 game on Saturday, May 27. All three of the Sparks losses this season have come on the road.

All fans attending Friday night’s game are asked to bring either a back pack or school supplies to be donated at the door to help benefit For the Kid in All of Us, Inc., a LBGTQ community based non-profit that works to bridge communities to brighten the lives of Georgia’s children in need.

This will be the first game back for forward Sancho Lyttle who just helped Team Spain win the 2017 FIBA Eurobasket Championship. It is also the first game for guard Darxia Morris who was signed Monday.

On Sunday, the Dream will look to avenge an early June 76-61 loss at New York. Sunday is the team’s annual Hoops for Troops game honoring all servicemen and women. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a Dream koozie.
