ATLANTA DREAM TO OPEN TRAINING CAMP ON MAY 15
- Team kicks off training camp at Georgia Tech�s Zelnak Basketball Center -
ATLANTA, May 13, 2011 � The Atlanta Dream will open 2011 training camp on Sunday, May 15 at Georgia Tech�s Zelnak Basketball Center. Fifteen players have been invited to training camp and 11 players will make the final roster.
The 2011 Dream roster is highlighted by four 2010 All-Star selections-- guards Iziane Castro Marques and Lindsey Harding and forwards Sancho Lyttle and Angel McCoughtry. McCoughtry leads on both ends of the floor, finishing third in the league in scoring (21.1 ppg) and second in Defensive Player of the Year voting last season. She is joined in the backcourt by Castro Marques (16.9 ppg) and new addition Lindsey Harding (12.1 ppg, 4.0 apg). Forward Sancho Lyttle (12.8 ppg, 9.9 rpg) and center Erika de Souza (12.4 ppg, 8.3 rpg) lead the Dream frontcourt.
Training camp opens on Sunday, May 15 with practice scheduled for 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Zelnak Basketball Center at Georgia Tech. The Dream will practice from 9 a.m. to noon daily at the Zelnak Basketball Center unless otherwise noted. Practices are closed to the public and open to the media for the last hour of each day. The Atlanta Dream is the defending Women�s National Basketball Association�s (WNBA) Eastern Conference Champion. The team tips off the 2011 season at home on June 5 against the New York Liberty at Philips Arena. The Dream enters its fourth season this summer as part of the WNBA, the world�s longest-running women�s professional sports league.
