ATLANTA, March 26, 2012 The Atlanta Dream will host the Tulsa Shock on May 5 in its only preseason matchup. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET at Philips Arena.
This is the first preseason game the Dream has hosted at Philips Arena since the 2009 season. The Dream participated last spring in the first ever WNBA game played in Europe, playing the Great Britain National Team in Manchester during preseason.
This year, the trend continues with multiple WNBA teams competing against international competition. The Dream will travel to Seattle to participate in closed scrimmages against the Chinese National Womens Basketball Team and Japanese Womens National Basketball Team on May 11-12. The Los Angeles Sparks and Phoenix Mercury will both host preseason games against international competition, with the Sparks hosting the Chinese and Japanese national teams and the Mercury hosting the Japanese national team.
Tickets to the Dreams preseason game will be available when all single game tickets go on sale in mid-April.
The Atlanta Dream tips off its fifth season this summer at Philips Arena as part of the Womens National Basketball Association (WNBA), the worlds longest-running womens professional sports league. The Dream, the defending two-time, back-to-back Eastern Conference Champion, opens its home schedule on May 25 against the New York Liberty. Season and group tickets are on sale now and individual tickets will be available for purchase in the spring. For more information, visit www.AtlantaDream.net or call (877) 977-7729.
