Meet the Rookies: Courtney Clements

You grew up in California. What's the biggest difference you've noticed between living in Atlanta and California?

Mostly the weather is the biggest difference. I've noticed there are a lot of trees and forests, and of course theres no beach.

How is being a WNBA player different from being a college player?

Everyone in the WNBA is laid back and comfortable and confident in what they can do. And everyone is really good at what they do. You have an all-star from college in each position. In the WNBA a person is the best at what they do, and in college its not like that which makes their game a little easier.

What has been the highlight of your basketball career so far?

Being able to be a part of the Atlanta Dream and play under Angel McCoughtry. Shes one of the best players in the world, and it's incredible just getting to watch her up close, practice with her, and observe her and learn as much as I can from her.

When you didnt get seclected in the WNBA Draft, did that give you any extra motivation when you came to training camp?

I would say I had a chip on my shoulder because I didnt get drafted. Most people who get picked up as undrafted free agents are looked at as not as good, and maybe thats why they didnt get drafted. But I wanted to show that I could have been in the draft just like anybody else who got drafted. Im just as good.

What are some hobbies you have outside of basketball?

I love to watch movies. I like to watch action, comedy, and pretty much anything. I really like sightseeing, like at museums. I havent had the chance to go to the aquarium but I would really like to go. And also, shopping. I love shopping.

Is there anything about you that most people dont know?

Courtney is not actually my real name. Regina is my real name. Courtney is my middle name, but I go by that name because that is what my family has always called me. My real name is Regina Courtney Clements Fields.
