Angel McCoughtry Wins Peak Performer Award as WNBA's Scoring Champion

ATLANTA, Sept. 18, 2013 � The Atlanta Dream�s Angel McCoughtry was honored with a 2013 WNBA Peak Performer Award for leading the league in scoring, the WNBA announced Wednesday.

The WNBA presents the Peak Performer awards annually to the players who lead the league in scoring, rebounding and assists during the regular season. Each player will receive a trophy crafted by Tiffany in honor of her accomplishments.

McCoughtry earned her second straight Peak Performer award for scoring, averaging a league-best 21.5 points. The fifth-year veteran averaged more than 20 points for the fourth consecutive year and shot 41 percent from the floor. McCoughtry scored 20 or more points in 19 games this season, including six games of 30 or more.

On Sept. 6, McCoughtry became the third-youngest player to reach the 3,000-point plateau, accomplishing the fear four days before her 27th birthday. She reached the milestone in 154 games, tying for third fewest in WNBA history. Her career average of 19.5 points ranks third all-time.

The other WNBA Peak Performer Awards went to Sylvia Fowles (Chicago Sky) and Danielle Robinson (San Antonio Silver Stars), who led the league in rebounding and assists, respectively.

The two-time Eastern Conference Champion Atlanta Dream is in its sixth season at Philips Arena as part of the Women�s National Basketball Association (WNBA).
