Angel McCoughtry Named to All-WNBA Second Team
Voting for the All-WNBA First and Second Teams was conducted by a panel of 39 national and local sportswriters and broadcasters at the conclusion of the regular season. Players were selected by position and received five points for each First Team vote and three points for each Second Team designation.
McCoughtry led the league in scoring for the second consecutive season, averaging 21.5 points per game. The fifth-year veteran also ranked second in the league in steals (2.7), was sixth in assists (4.4) and 22nd in rebounding (5.3).
McCoughtry scored 20 or more points in 19 games this season, including six games of 30 or more. On Sept. 6, she became the third-youngest player to reach the 3,000-point plateau, accomplishing the fear four days before her 27th birthday. She reached the milestone in 154 games, tying for third fewest in WNBA history. Her career average of 19.5 points ranks third all-time.
McCoughtry was selected as a starter for the East squad at the WNBA All-Star Game, was a four-time Eastern Conference Player of the Week and was named the conference�s Player of the Month for June. It was her second career All-WNBA honor. She was named to the First Team in 2011.
The All-WNBA First Team consisted of guards Diana Taurasi of Phoenix and Lindsay Whalen of Minnesota, forwards Maya Moore of Minnesota and Candace Parker of Los Angeles and Chicago center Sylvia Fowles.
Joining McCoughtry on the Second Team were guard Seimone Augustus of Minnesota, forwards Tamika Catchings of Indiana and Elena Delle Donne of Chicago and center Tina Charles of Connecticut.
In honor of being named to the All-WNBA First and Second Teams, each player will receive a Tiffany & Co. designed trophy. In addition, $10,000 will be awarded to each member of the First Team, while each member of the Second Team will receive $5,000.
