Marynell's Memories - Aug. 1

Dream head coach Marynell Meadors is serving as an assistant coach for Team USA for the London 2012 Olympic Games, and will provide updates on her experiences throughout her trip. The following is her entry for August 1:

Wednesday's game vs Turkey will be a true test of how much we have progressed as a team. Not having many practices to get our timing and coordination with each player has put us behind as far as our team work is concerned. With that being said, we have the best players in the world on our team and the more we work together in practices and in games, the better we are becoming. Having worked with these players over the last few weeks has been so enjoyable. Their hard work and dedication to our game has been teriffic. To be able to be on the same court with veteran players like Tamika Catchings, Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi has been amazing. They never take a play off on either end of the court. Everything is game pace and the team work and leadership they give the younger players like Maya Moore has been fun to watch. In playing Turkey on Wednesday night, I have the opportunity to reunite with Nevriye Yilmaz. I coached her when I was with the Charlotte Sting as Head Coach/GM. She was just 18 years old and was a very young talent and has certainly developed into a great player as she is the best player on the Turkish Olympic Team.

Will continue to update everyone as we GO FOR THE GOLD!

GO USA!!!!
