Marynell's Memories - Aug. 10

Dream head coach Marynell Meadors is serving as an assistant coach for Team USA for the London 2012 Olympic Games, and will provide updates on her experiences throughout her trip. The following is her entry for Aug. 10:

Hello from London!

Whew, what a game. Australia played a geat game against us and this was truly a challenge for us to finally get on track and win the game. Australia did exactly what they needed to do to really put us back on our heels. Finally, in the third quarter, we got defensive pressure on their guards and we were more physical with Liz Cambage and Lauren Jackson.

Two players who really made some things happen for us were Simone Augustus and Ashja Jones. Simone hit some really big shots and Ashja did a great job of not letting Cambage post up so deep into the paint. Cambage had 19 points at halftime and ended the game with 19 points. This was good for our team to really have to battle all the way to end to win the game. All our games have had a huge point spread.

I watched the other semifinal game with Russia and France playing in the nightcap. France won the game, so that is who we will play at 9:00 PM on Saturday night for an opportunity to win FIVE GOLD MEDALS IN A ROW. Quite a feat for the USA women's basketball team. The Bronze Medal game will be France-Australia at 5:00 PM. All London time.

Tune in and cheer us on. What a great opportunity and what a super bunch of basketball players to work with. See you soon.
