DREAM WAIVES GUARD BETTY LENNOX

ATLANTA, February 3, 2009 The Atlanta Dream announced today that the team has waived guard Betty Lennox. With new WNBA roster restrictions capping team rosters at 11 players, and the anticipated signing of other free agents, the team needed to create cap room in order to continue assembling their roster.

We really appreciate what Betty contributed to this franchise in our inaugural season and we wish her the best, said Dream General Manager and Head Coach Marynell Meadors. We hate to see her go, but really we needed to address our experience and strength at the small forward and center positions.

Lennox, a 5-8 guard, led the Dream in scoring last season. She averaged 17.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game in her first year with the Dream, starting 33 of 34 games. A nine-year veteran, Lennox was acquired by the Dream from the Seattle Storm in the 2008 WNBA Expansion Draft. She was originally selected with the sixth overall pick in the 2000 WNBA Draft by the Minnesota Lynx, where she won Rookie of the Year honors. She has played for five teams in her WNBA career.

The Dream will tip off its second season on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 7 p.m. against the Indiana Fever. For more information and to purchase season tickets, fans can call 404.604.2626 or visit www.AtlantaDream.net.
