Dream Clinches Fourth Straight Playoff Berth

ATLANTA, Sept. 14, 2012 � The Atlanta Dream will have a chance to defend its back-to-back Eastern Conference Championships as the team has clinched its fourth consecutive playoff berth. A loss by Chicago late Thursday night in Los Angeles, on the heels of the Dream�s 77-61 victory over Seattle Tuesday, guaranteed Atlanta a playoff spot.

Atlanta currently sits in third place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 17-14 with three games remaining. Since the Olympic break, the Dream is 8-4 and has won five of its last six contests, including five straight at Philips Arena.

Atlanta joins Indiana as the only teams from the Eastern Conference to reach the playoffs in each of the past four seasons. In the Western Conference, only San Antonio and Seattle have been in the playoffs every year since 2009.

The 2012 WNBA playoffs presented by Boost Mobile tip off on September 27. The Conference Semifinals and the Conference Finals are each best-of-three series. Series are played in a 1-1-1 format, with the team with home-court advantage (better record) hosting Games 1 and 3, while their opponent hosts Game 2.

The WNBA Finals is a best-of-five series played in a 2-2-1 format, with the team with home-court advantage hosting Games 1, 2, and 5 while its opponent hosts Games 3 and 4.
