Erika de Souza Named to WNBA All-Star Team

ATLANTA, July 15, 2014 � Atlanta Dream center Erika de Souza has been named a reserve for the Eastern Conference for Boost Mobile WNBA All-Star 2014, the league office announced Tuesday evening. It will be the third All-Star appearance for de Souza, and second in as many years.

League head coaches selected the reserves for All-Star game, which will be nationally broadcast on ESPN on Saturday, July 19, at 3:30 p.m. ET from Phoenix, Ariz.

The Dream will be well represented at the All-Star game, with de Souza joining an East team that will include starters Angel McCoughtry and Shoni Schimmel. In addition, Dream head coach Michael Cooper and his staff will coach the Eastern Conference All-Stars by virtue of the Dream�s first-place standing in the East.

This season de Souza is averaging 15.2 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. She ranks third in the WNBA in rebounds and blocks, fourth in field goal percentage (.578) and 10th in scoring. Her six double-doubles ranks tied for eighth in the league, and she was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played June 2-8.

The 6-5 de Souza, who is the only player remaining from the Dream�s inaugural season in 2008, is the franchise�s all-time leader in rebounds (1,564), blocked shots (268), field goal percentage (.544) and double-doubles (64).

The three-time Eastern Conference Champion Atlanta Dream is in its seventh season in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Dream has qualified for the playoffs in each of the past five seasons, including conference titles in 2013, 2011 and 2010.
