Marynell's Memories - Aug. 2

Dream head coach Marynell Meadors is serving as an assistant coach for Team USA for the London 2012 Olympic Games, and will provide updates on her experiences throughout her trip. The following is her entry for August 1:

Today is Thursday and we have given the players a day off to sightsee and to spend time with their families. As coaches, we are taking time to breathe a little as well, but we continue to work on our opponent scouting reports. On my day off, I am going to spend time with my niece Danielle and her daughter Alex. They have been here a week and have been watching events nonstop, they took a trip to Paris and of course they have been supporting us at all our games. This is truly an experience and the USA Basketball Organization has certainly taken great care of all of us and made it possible for us to have a wonder time. Carol Callan is the head of our delegation and you can see her sitting on the bench near the coaching staff each game. Friday, it will be back to business, and that is to get the win over Czech Republic. We played them in the 2010 World Championships and won, but this will be a tough contest for us. They are very talented and we have to play very well to win. With each game, the next game becomes even more important. This is also true with each and every WNBA game. We will finish out pool play on Sunday when we play China. Then its on to the Quarterfinals on Tuesday. The way things are shaping up; it looks like we could play Canada, Great Britain or Brazil. As you all know, Erika is playing for Brazil and she has played very well. I look forward to checking in again this weekend.

Everyone have a great day!!

GO USA!!!!
