Dream Head Coach Michael Cooper to Make Limited Return to Sidelines on Sunday

ATLANTA, Aug. 3, 2014 Atlanta Dream head coach Michael Cooper will make a limited return to the team when he joins his squad on the sidelines for Sundays 3 p.m. contest against the New York Liberty at Philips Arena. Coopers return comes 10 days after he underwent a surgical procedure for tongue cancer on July 24 at the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in Atlanta.

Coopers return is prompted by his desire to show support for the teams Breast Health Awareness initiatives at the teams annual Dream Pink game, which will include recognition of breast cancer survivors. Although he will be on the sidelines, Coopers return to coaching duties will be limited and subject to his doctors approval. His status for the teams upcoming week-long, four-game road trip that begins Tuesday, Aug. 5, in Phoenix remains uncertain.

"I would like to thank all my friends and fans for all the well-wishes and support, and I am excited to get back to coaching," said Cooper.

"Coach Cooper is doing well after the surgery and is expected to make a full recovery, said his physician, Dr. J. Trad Wadsworth.
