ATLANTA, August 6, 2013 The Atlanta Dreams game on Aug. 24 against the Chicago Sky will be nationally televised by ESPN2, the team announced Tuesday. Tip-off will be at 7 p.m. ET at Philips Arena.
The game will feature the top two teams in the Eastern Conference who combined for five All-Star selections this season. Chicago currently leads the East with a 13-6 record, while Atlanta sits one game back at 11-6. The Dream defeated Chicago in the only previous meeting between the teams this season, earning an 88-74 victory on June 16 in Philips Arena.
The Aug. 24 game will include three of the five players voted in as starters for the Eastern Conference for the 2013 All-Star Game, including Atlantas Angel McCoughtry and Chicagos Elena Delle Donne and Epiphanny Prince. In addition, the Dreams Erika de Souza and the Skys Sylvia Fowles represented the East as reserves at the All-Star Game.
The contest is also the Dreams annual Dream Pink game, in which the Dream partners with Grady Health System to increase awareness surrounding breast health. Among the activities surrounding the game will be a silent auction during the game, and a live auction immediately following the contest that will include the pink jerseys worn during the game by Dream players. All proceeds from the auctions will benefit Grady Health System and their efforts.
The two-time Eastern Conference Champion Atlanta Dream is in its sixth season at Philips Arena as part of the Womens National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Dream qualified for the playoffs in each of the past four seasons, including back-to-back conference titles in 2010 and 2011.
