Atlanta Dream Sells Out Inaugural Home Opener

ATLANTA, May 21, 2008 - With 10,039 tickets sold, the Atlanta Dream's Inaugural Home Opener is sold out today, announced Team President Bill Bolen.

Over the past few weeks, tickets for opening weekend have been moving fast, said Bolen. "We reached capacity for Friday' s game today and have less than 1,000 tickets available for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Sparks."

Bolen also said tickets for the Tuesday, June 3 game against the Minnesota Lynx and the Friday, June 6 game against the Chicago Sky are selling quickly as well. The June 6th game is "Faith & Family Night and features a special performance by Gospel Artist Canton Jones.

The Dream will host the WNBA's top three draft picks in its first four home games:

-- May 25: No. 1 Candace Parker of the University of Tennesse and the Los Angeles Sparks
-- June 3: No. 3 Candice Wiggins of Stanford University with the Minnesota Lynx
-- June 6: No. 2 Sylvia Fowles of Louisiana State University with the Chicago Sky

Friday's game will include a performance by teen-pop sensation Sean Kingston, an interactive Dream Fan Zone in the Philips Arena concourse and a pre-game performance by the Southwest Dekalb High School Marching Band. Plus, all fans will receive Pom Poms courtesy of State Farm Insurance.

Sunday's game features the wild and crazy ZOOperstar mascots and all fans will receive Schedule Magnets courtesy of MARTA.

For fans unable to attend, the game on May 23 will be broadcast in the Atlanta area on CSS starting at 7:30 p.m.

The Dream will tip-off in its first regular season home game on Friday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. against defending Eastern Conference Champions the Detroit Shock. The team was officially announced as the 14th team in the WNBA on October 17, 2007. The Dream will be a member of the WNBA's Eastern conference and play their home games at Philips Arena. Other Eastern conference teams include the Chicago Sky, Connecticut Sun, Detroit Shock, Indiana Fever, New York Liberty and Washington Mystics.
