DREAM "GO RED" FOR WOMEN
ATLANTA, May 29, 2008-- The Atlanta Dream is joining forces with the American Heart Association�s Go Red for Women to increase awareness of heart disease and encourage women to take action to reduce their own personal risk. One in three women has some form of cardiovascular disease and heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death among women in the United States. Under the partnership, WNBA teams and players will encourage fans to take the Go Red Heart CheckUp at GoRedForWomen.org to calculate their personal, 10-year risk for heart disease and find information about controlling blood pressure, cholesterol and weight.
The Dream will host an in-arena �Go Red for Women� night on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Philips Arena at 7 pm against the Minnesota Lynx. The Atlanta Dream and the American Heart Association encourage all fans to �know their numbers.� The American Heart Association will have a table set up on the main concourse where fans can stop by to take the Go Red Heart CheckUp. Prior to the game, local heart disease survivors will participate in the Dream�s ceremonial ball exchange during introductions. Dream fans can also sign up now on www.AtlantaDream.net to receive special discounted tickets for the �Go Red� cheering section. All fans are encouraged to wear red to the June 3 game in support of the initiative and the first 3,000 fans will receive an Atlanta Dream/Go Red wristband.
