Gimme Five: Individual Performances
To celebrate five seasons in Atlanta, the Dream is compiling various top-five lists from those five seasons. We previously listed the top-five on-the-court and the top-five off-the-court moments in Dream history. Today, we look at the top five individual performances in team history.
No. 5 � Erika de Souza at Minnesota, 7/14/10
During an 83-81 loss at Minnesota, Erika de Souza tied a team record with 20 rebounds, poured in 18 points on 9-of-16 shooting, blocked three shots and had a pair of steals. She had eight rebounds in the fourth quarter alone, helping keep the Dream in the contest. Her 20 boards surpassed her previous career best of 18 set against Detroit in the 2008 opener.
No. 4 � A Trio of Top Performances vs. Connecticut, 5/21/10
Atlanta�s 97-82 victory over Connecticut actually featured three outstanding individual performances, all in the same game. Angel McCoughtry had a superb all-around game, leading all scorers with 32 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and also totaling five assists, four steals and two blocked shots. Sancho Lyttle was not far behind in scoring with a then-career high 27 points, and grabbed 17 rebounds, which is tied for fourth most in a game in team history. And Iziane Castro Marques collected 18 points, setting a team record for field goal percentage in a game by making 8-of-9 field goals, including both of her three-point attempts.
No. 3 � Sancho Lyttle at Indiana, 6/19/10
Sancho Lyttle recorded the only 20-20 game in team history during a 94-91 loss at Indiana, totaling 20 points, 20 rebounds, three assists and two steals. Her rebound total was a new team record, and included 16 defensive rebounds, also a team record. She needed only nine shots (five made) to score 20 points, thanks in part to her making 10-of-10 free throws, which is just one free throw shy of the team record for most free throws made in a game without a miss.
No. 2 � Betty Lennox at Connecticut, 6/27/08
In only the 14th game in team history, Betty Lenox set a team record for scoring that still stands to this day, pouring in 44 points during a 109-101 overtime loss at Connecticut. Lennox also flirted with a triple-double, collecting nine rebounds and seven assists, and added three steals as well. She sank 17-of-32 field goals, including 5-of-12 from three-point range, and made five of her six free throw attempts. Her 44 points still ranks tied for fourth most in a game in WNBA history.

Angel McCoughtry set a WNBA playoff scoring record, tallying 42 points while helping Atlanta clinch a spot in the 2010 WNBA Finals with a 105-93 win over New York in Philips Arena. McCoughtry made 12-of-20 field goals and got to the free throw line often, sinking 17-of-21 to help her break the old playoff record of 41 points set by Indiana�s Tamika Whitmore in 2006. McCoughtry also had five steals, four assists, three rebounds and a blocked shot as Atlanta completed a sweep of New York in the Eastern Conference Finals.
