ATLANTA DREAM SIGNS BELGIAN NATIONAL TEAM PLAYER

ATLANTA, April 9, 2012�The Atlanta Dream announced today the team has signed guard Romina Ciappina to a training camp contract.

Ciappina, a 5-11 guard, is a native of Belgium and has extensive international playing experience. She is currently playing for the Italian team Priolo, averaging 8.8 points per game and shooting 37.9% from beyond the arc. She started the season with Poprad in the Slovakian League, where she averaged 13.1 points and 2.6 assists per game.

Ciappina also has experience playing for various Belgian national teams, including the Belgian Senior National Team in 2011. She averaged 9.8 points for Belgium in the 2011 European Championships. Ciappina has also represented her country in the U20 European Championship in 2007 and 2008 and the U18 European Championship in 2006.

Ciappina previously played in both the Belgian and Slovakian leagues. She won the Belgian Cup and the Belgian League both in 2007 and 2009.

The Atlanta Dream tips off its fifth season this summer at Philips Arena as part of the Women�s National Basketball Association (WNBA), the world�s longest-running women�s professional sports league.
