Marynell Meadors to be Inducted into the Nashville Public Schools Hall of Fame

ATLANTA, March 4, 2008 Marynell Meadors, Head Coach and General Manager of the WNBA's Atlanta Dream will be inducted into the Nashville Public Schools Hall of Fame today by the Nashville Alliance for Public Education.

Meadors played basketball for her alma mater, Hillsboro High School, where she rates her performance on the court as "fair." After graduation from Hillsboro in 1961, Meadors stayed local and went to Middle Tennessee State University before launching a successful coaching career. Meadors was the first coach in NCAA women's basketball history to win 300 games at the same school, Tennessee Tech. She said she sees a lot of talent come from public schools.

"That (credit for) preparation goes to the public school teachers," she said.

Created in 2005, the Nashville Public Schools Hall of Fame celebrates the successes of public education by honoring talented graduates of Metro Nashville Public Schools, as well as local leaders who have provided distinguished service to influence public school excellence.
