DREAM: McCoughtry Named to All-WNBA Team

DREAM FORWARD ANGEL MCCOUGHTRY NAMED TO ALL-WNBA FIRST TEAM
- McCoughtry finishes second in voting for 2011 All-WNBA team -

ATLANTA, October 4, 2011 � Atlanta Dream forward Angel McCoughtry was named to the 2011 All-WNBA First Team, the league announced today. McCoughtry finished second in voting with 172 points.

McCoughtry, a 6-1 forward, finished second in the WNBA in scoring, averaging 21.6 points per game. She also ranked third in the league in steals (2.2 spg) and earned her second consecutive WNBA All-Defensive First Team selection. She finished the season with career-highs in points and rebounds (5.2 rpg) and tied her career-high in steals. McCoughtry topped the 30+ point mark a league-high six times in the regular season and scored 20+ in 10 of her last 12 regular season games.

This is McCoughtry�s first selection to the All-WNBA First Team. She was a member of the 2010 All-WNBA Second Team.

Joining McCoughtry on the 2011 All-WNBA First Team are: Indiana Fever forward Tamika Catchings, Connecticut Sun center Tina Charles, Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi, and Minnesota Lynx guard Lindsay Whalen.

Members of the 2011 All-WNBA Second Team are: Phoenix Mercury forward Penny Taylor, Minnesota Lynx forward Seimone Augustus, Chicago Sky center Sylvia Fowles, Seattle Storm guard Sue Bird and New York Liberty guard Cappie Pondexter.

Voting for the All-WNBA First and Second Teams was conducted by a panel of national and local sportswriters and broadcasters. Players were selected by position and received five points for each First Team vote and three points for each Second Team designation.

In honor of being named to the All-WNBA First and Second Teams, each player will receive a Tiffany & Co. designed trophy. In addition, $10,000 will be awarded to each member of the First Team, while each member of the Second Team will receive $5,000.

The Atlanta Dream is in its fourth season this summer at Philips Arena as part of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), the world's longest-running women's professional sports league. The Dream is back in the WNBA Finals for a second straight year and will face the Minnesota Lynx. The Dream will host Game 3 on Friday, October 7 and Game 4 (if necessary) on Sunday, October 9.
