Atlanta Dream Sign Stacey Lovelace

ATLANTA, March 27, 2008 -- The Atlanta Dream signed unrestricted free agent forward Stacey Lovelace to the teams roster. As per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. Lovelace, a 64 forward, will enter her seventh season in the league.

I had the opportunity to coach her last year in Washington and I think Stacey can step up and really help this team, said Dream head coach Marynell Meadors. She can play inside posting up but she can also step outside and shoot the three. I think thats why having her is going to be such a benefit for us.

Lovelace has had an extensive professional career, having played six years in the WNBA. She has also played overseas in five different countries, including France, Israel, Portugal, Spain, and most recently Turkey, where she averaged 23.9 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 1.1 apg and 1.8 spg for Besiktas Cola Turka.

In her WNBA career, Lovelace is averaging 5 ppg, 2.6 rpg and 14.4 mpg. Lovelace spent last season with the Washington Mystics, appearing in nine games. She has previously played for the Seattle Storm (2000-2001), Minnesota Lynx (2004-2005) and Chicago Sky (2006).

Stacey brings veteran experience and has been successful everywhere she has been, said Meadors. I think she will help lead, direct and motivate the younger players on the team and I think she will give us a great deal of leadership for this team.
