Special Fan Selected to Help Launch Atlanta�s Inaugural WNBA Season

ATLANTA, Jan. 23, 2008 -- A very special Atlanta WNBA fan has been chosen to help launch the team's inaugural season in May 2008. Sheila Cassity was randomly chosen from over 3,500 voters who participated in the opportunity to recommend their favorite choice of four team names and five team color schemes. Team name choices were Flight, Dream, Sizzle and Surge. Team color scheme choices were:
Team owner, Ron Terwilliger, is honoring his pledge to include the fans in the process of launching the team.
�This is Atlanta�s team and it is important to engage the community in a real and meaningful way," said Terwilliger. "We want to know what the fans think and get their input on what they want their team to be called; we are counting on their support.�
Cassity, a self-proclaimed women�s basketball fanatic, will be a special VIP on Opening Night.
�I�m so looking forward to the season with our new team," said Cassity. "I can't wait.�
She will to run out of the locker room with the players, toss up a ceremonial jump ball and receive an autographed basketball signed by both teams.
The Atlanta Dream will begin play in 2008 at Philips Arena in downtown Atlanta. The team will tip-off in its first regular season home game on Friday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. against defending Eastern Conference Champions the Detroit Shock.
