ATLANTA DREAM TO FACE CONNECTICUT IN 2011 WNBA PLAYOFFS

ATLANTA, September 11, 2011 � The Atlanta Dream will face the Connecticut Sun in the opening round of the 2011 WNBA Playoffs presented by Boost Mobile. The Dream will host Game 2 at Philips Arena on Sunday, September 18 at 3 p.m.

Atlanta will have a chance to defend its 2010 Eastern Conference Championship after advancing to the postseason for a third straight season. The Dream (20-14) clinched the No. 3 seed in the East with Sunday night�s victory over the Indiana Fever, closing out the regular season with a franchise record 20th win. The Sun (21-13) wrapped up the No. 2 spot with a win over the New York Liberty.

The Dream and Sun split the 2011 regular season series 2-2, with both teams defending their home court. The Dream won the most recent matchup, 85-74, on September 6. The playoff series features two WNBA MVP candidates, as Dream forward Angel McCoughtry (21.6 ppg) and Sun center Tina Charles (17.6 ppg) go head-to-head.

The best-of-three series will tip off on Friday night as the Dream travels to Connecticut for Game 1. The game will be broadcast on NBA TV at 7:00 p.m. The Dream will host Game 2 at Philips Arena on Sunday, September 18 in a 3 p.m. matchup televised on ESPN2. If necessary, Game 3 will be played in Connecticut on Tuesday, September 20.
